Gelato is an amalgamation of Sunset Sherbet and Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies. The name is in honor of its delicious aroma. Also called Larry Bird, Gelato (#33) was first developed in the northern Cali’s Bay Area and is derived from a rich collection of genetics developed through people like the Cookie Family, the Sherbinskis family, and the cultivator Mario Guzman.

The cultivators split up following the creation of the strain, and which cultivator who has what is considered to be the best “stable version” of Gelato genetics is a matter of discussion. Cookies has a variety of types and descendents of the strain called Gelato #42, Dolce Gelato, and an un-sun-grown Gelato. Sherbinskis cultivates four stable Gelato types in its rotation also: Gelato #41 (Bacio Gelato), Gelato #43 (Gello Gelato), Gelato #47 (Mochi Gelato), and Gelato #49 (Acai Berry Gelato). According to Sherbinskis the #33 phenotype is no longer being grown.
